Women Voicing Peace, Diyarbakır, Turkey, March 28th, 2026
Over 100 women from across civil society, politics, and the business community gathered in Diyarbakır for a special conference in partnership with the Democratic Peace Institute and the Eastern and Southeastern Businesswomen’s Association.
Featuring representatives from political parties, including the government's AK Party, main opposition CHP, and pro-Kurdish DEM Party, as well as a focus on the economic costs of conflict and the potential benefits of peace, Emma's role to bring international experience and expertise to support local actors in building peace.
Emma's message was clear; when women mobilise change happens. It is easy to lose sight of the power society holds, in a challenging environment with high risk, there is power in numbers. One person speaking out becomes a target, a collective speaking out is much harder to attack.
