Guest Lecture: When Citizens Decide: The Role of Youth, Women, and Communities in Advancing Northern Ireland’s Peace Process, Fairfield University - March 18 2025

Emma delivered a guest lecture on the impact of community-based movements in effecting change in Northern Ireland and the shifting political and societal landscape discussing human rights, identity, and citizenship. In closing, audience members asked questions about the future of Ireland, and the role for the US, Emma responded by pointing to the role of the US in mediating the Good Friday Agreement. As Ireland moves closer to a referendum on unification, the US may once again be called upon to act as an independent facilitator.
